Technical Author / Technical Writer. Exciting authoring role for this dynamic and forward thinking software company. Will be working within a team of writers alongside software engineers, QA and support teams writing a variety of end-user and technical documentation. Must have a proven ability to write from scratch with a qualification in technical writing or formal training. Ideal candidate will have gained experience within the software sector and have an excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Good working knowledge of FrameMaker is imperative and knowledge of the following advantageous: XML, XSLT, Java, SQL, Oracle, WebWorks ePublisher, Acrobat, HTML, Visio and UNIX. Any experience of working within an Agile development environment and of structured authoring, i.e. DITA is preferred. Experience of user interface design and usability issues also preferred. Lastly, experience of writing for localization is a real plus. |

The focus needs to be on producing materials in Plain English that is easy to localise for their global client base. They have no predefined authoring development software requirements other than Word but experience with page layout software such as Quark or InDesign would be a definite advantage.
There is a "work hard, play hard mentality" based around a group of high achievers and this role is seen as really important for the future development of the company so is a great opportunity for the right person. The salary range is large as they are happy to consider junior or senior candidates as long as they are talented and driven.
Superb written and verbal English is mandatory. |
